TODAY - Friday 6th June

Many areas dry and bright at first today, Friday, with sunny spells and just well scattered showers. Increasingly cloudy this afternoon with showers becoming more widespread, and some turning heavy. The showers will merge to longer spells of rain in the west and southwest this evening. Highest Temperatures of 12 to 17 degrees in light to moderate westerly breezes.

TONIGHT

Mostly cloudy tonight, with outbreaks of rain spreading from the southwest. Some heavy bursts are possible, particularly in Munster and south Leinster. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in light to moderate southwest or variable breezes.

TOMORROW - Saturday 7th June

Damp or wet to begin tomorrow, Saturday, with cloud and rain gradually clearing eastwards, giving way to a mix of bright or sunny spells and showers spreading from the west. The showers will become largely confined to the east by evening. Highest temperatures of just 11 to 15 degrees with moderate northwesterly winds developing and increasing fresh at times near coasts.

National Outlook

Overview: Continuing unsettled for the weekend and into next week with rain or showers each day.

Friday night: Turning rather wet overnight as outbreaks of rain spread from the west and southwest. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees in light to moderate southerly or variable winds, freshening in the southwest overnight.

Saturday: After a wet start to the day, cloud and rain will gradually clear eastwards leaving a mix of showers and sunny spells for Saturday. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh and occasionally strong northwest winds.

Saturday night: Showers will become confined to western and northwestern coasts overnight with long clear spells elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees in light to moderate northwest winds.

Sunday: A mix of sunshine and showers, with cloud increasing in the west through the afternoon, before brightening again by the evening. Highest temperatures of just 13 to 16 degrees in moderate westerly winds.

Sunday night: Starting off largely dry Sunday night before cloud and outbreaks of rain spread form the west. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees in light southwesterly winds.

Monday: Current indications suggest Monday will be cloudy with spells of persistent rain over the northern half of the country and light showers further south. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees in moderate to fresh southwest winds.

Further outlook: Our weather will remain unsettled into next week although temperatures look set to climb day on day closer to average for the time of year.
