TODAY - Sunday 7th September

The last of the rain and drizzle will soon clear northeastern parts. A mix of cloud and sunny spells for the rest of today with scattered showers. Moderate west to southwest winds will be fresh at times near windward coasts. High spring tides may cause coastal flooding in low-lying areas.

TONIGHT

Largely dry tonight with clear spells and isolated showers. Cooler than of late with lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 Celsius. South to southwest winds will remain moderate and locally fresh near the west and northwest coasts. Elsewhere winds become mostly light, allowing isolated mist or fog patches to form.

TOMORROW - Monday 8th September

Bright at first of on Monday with sunny spells. A few isolated showers in the morning but scattered showers will spread from the west during the afternoon. Some will heavy with a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms. The showers will become more isolated in the evening. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 Celsius in moderate southwest winds, fresh at times near the coast. Again, high spring tides may cause coastal flooding in low-lying areas.

Overview: Remaining unsettled into next week with wet and sometimes windy weather

Monday night: Spells of rain from the southwest will spread northeastwards over the country on Monday night. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees, in mostly moderate south to southeast winds, with fresh and strong winds along Atlantic coastal counties.

Tuesday: A wet and windy start with further outbreaks of rain in the morning, some heavy at times. From the early afternoon, conditions will start to brighten up from the west with just isolated showers to follow. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in mostly moderate southeast winds, feeling fresher on the east and southeast counties.

Tuesday night: Becoming cloudier with scattered showers overnight, before a more persistent band of rain moves in from the west later on. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees.

Wednesday: Rain will clear from the early afternoon, with scattered showers to follow, mostly confined to Atlantic coastal counties. There will be opportunities for brighter spells to develop later on throughout the day, the best of which will be in the east. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees with fresh southerly winds, veering westerly later on.

Thursday: Thursday morning will start off cloudy in the north and west with brighter spells in the southeast. Scattered showers will spread from the west, some heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in moderate southwesterly winds, stronger along southern and western coastal counties.

Friday: A dry and bright start for most with lingering showers along Atlantic coastal counties, some heavy at times particularly in the west and northwest, which will spread eastwards through the morning and early afternoon.

Further outlook: The weather will remain unsettled as a mobile Atlantic flow continues to dominate.
